Historic glass has character due to its undulations and bubbles from its handmade process which modern glass lacks. There are a small number of glass manufacturers and suppliers of this traditional glass, which can, depending on its suitability, even be incorporated in double glazing.

Norgrove Studios Ltd is a small specialist glazing workshop making bespoke stained glass, and restoring/conserving existing. We have an interest in the restoration and new creation of plain glazing for 17th , 18th, & 19th C traditional vernacular buildings, undertaking repair of all early periods of glasswork. We use new handmade mouth blown glass to match originals. Our blacksmith will repair existing ferramenta and casements, & make new in wrought iron or stainless steel. The company specialises in providing authentic handblown glass for the windows of period buildings, specified by the National Trust, English Heritage, Historic Scotland, the Crown Estates and many others. They supply the following glasses:, Cylinder Blown Type NR (no ream for late 17th century to early twentieth century) and Baltic Type LR (low ream for 16th century or earlier) and Vauxhall Glass, slightly curved to give the appearance of Crown glass. Georgian and Victorian Sheet is a lower cost alternative where no original glass remains.
