Timber Casement Windows
The timber casement window has been popular since the late 17th century and is one of the most common types of window found on historic buildings. It is important that historic casements are repaired and that new casements are well detailed. You should always contact your local conservation officer before carrying out work to windows on historic buildings or in a conservation area. In the case of listed buildings, double glazing is usually unacceptable, secondary glazing being preferred instead for thermal efficiency.
