Secondary Glazing can provide thermal efficiency without destroying the existing windows, and therefore is the most sustainable way of upgrading an existing window as well as preserving the historic fabric. English Heritage in their Practice Guide to PPS5 indicate this is the preferred method of upgrading a window.
