Cob

Cob is a mixture of clay mud or soil and straw. It is found in a band from the West Country to East Anglia and has various names such as cob, clay lump (using blocks) and wychert. Interest has grown in recent years as it is a highly sustainable material, with a low energy locally sourced material with a high thermal mass. The infill to wattle and daub is also related to this technique.
